“There comes a time in the affairs of a man when he has to take the bull by the tail and face the situation.”
— W. C. Fields
What are you doing?
I’m becoming a writer.
A writer? Are you crazy?
Yes, I probably am. But you all knew that anyway. I’m following a family tradition (or maybe starting one — is it really a tradition the second time it happens?) and devoting my attention to putting words on a page with the goal of entertaining and educating. This has been my dream for more than 30 years, and crazy or not, it’s time to stop dreaming and time to start doing.
What will you be writing?
A little bit of everything. Short fiction, non-fiction in various lengths, novels. I don’t anticipate writing poetry, but I won’t rule it out either. Music? Why not? I’m not just going to follow my muse, I’m going to stalk it.
Are you taking any time off?
Nope. I’m diving right in. This is my first experience with being totally self-directed at work, and it’s going to take me some time to figure out. If I’m going to make any headway in this career, I need to treat it as a job, and I don’t want to start the new job by annoying my manager, burning through my vacation time, and borrowing against my sick leave.
Are you available for freelance work?
Absolutely! Drop me a note, make me an offer. Let’s talk.
Koi?
After years of fish jokes, I decided to reclaim my name. And koi are very good-looking fish.
Amazon Affiliate?
Yeah. In accordance with the Operating Agreement: “Casey Karp is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com” I’m not going to go hog wild and start writing posts specifically to advertise, but if I’m writing about something that Amazon offers, I’ll include an affiliate link. Feel free to ignore them.
