Watanuki is a conservative sort. He not only believes that good fences make for good neighbors, but he keeps a careful eye on his fence.
He’s always ready to sound the alarm should an interloper appear.
MM doesn’t care for fences as fences. She just appreciates their utility in allowing her to attain the high ground.
She’s unimpressed with ‘Nuki’s alarmist response to invasion from the south–or any other direction.
Really unimpressed.
Not that I’m suggesting there’s a metaphor here.
